أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ

ASHHAHU AN LAA ILAAHA ILLAL-LAAH

I bear witness that there is no god save Allah

وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ

WAH’DAHOO LAA SHAREEKA LAH

Alone without having any associate

وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ

WA ASHHADU ANNA MUH’AMMADAN S’ALLAL-LAAHU ‘ALAYHI WA AALIHEE ‘ABDUHOO WA RASOOLUH

And I bear witness that Muhammad—blessings of Allah be upon him—is His servant and Messenger

When you enter and catch sight of the tomb, you should halt again and repeat saying Allahu Akbar—Allah is the Greatest—thirty times. Very serene and venerable, you should walk a few yards with slow steps and then halt anew and repeating saying Allahu Akbar thirty times. As you come within reach of the tomb, you should repeat saying Allahu Akbar forty times so that you would have said it one hundred times. After that, you should recite the following:

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ بَيْتِ النُّبُوَّةِ

ASSALAAMU ‘ALAYKUM YAA AHLA BAYTIN-NUBUWWAH

Peace be on you O the family of the Prophet

وَ مَوْضِعَ الرِّسَالَةِ

WA MAWDHI’AR-RISAALAH

You are the seat of the Divine mission

 وَمُخْتَلَفَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ

WA MUKHTALAFAL-MALAA`IKAH

Unto you the Angels turn

وَمَهْبِطَ الْوَحْيِ

WA MAHBIT’AL-WAH’Y

You are the destination of the Divine revelation

وَمَعْدِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ

WA MA’DINAR-RAH’MAH

the originating source of mercy

وَخُزَّانَ الْعِلْمِ

WA KHUZZANAL-‘ILM

the treasures of knowledge

وَمُنْتَهَى الْحِلْمِ

WA MUNTAHAL-H’ILM

the ultimate in forbearance

وَأُصُولَ الْكَرَمِ

WA US’OOLAL-KARAM

the foundation of generosity

وَقَادَةَ الْأُمَمِ

WA QAADATAL-UMAM

the leaders of all nations

وَأَوْلِيَاءَ النِّعَمِ

WA AWLIYAA`AN-NI’AM

You administer and distribute the bounties

‏وَعَنَاصِرَ الْأَبْرَارِ

WA ‘ANAAS’IRAL-ABRAAR

You are the elements of virtues

وَدَعَائِمَ الْأَخْيَارِ

WA DA’AA`IMAL-AKHYAAR

the pillars of goodness

وَسَاسَةَ الْعِبَادِ

WA SAASATAL-‘IBAAD

You direct and guide mankind

وَأَرْكَانَ الْبِلاَدِ

WA ARKAANAL-BILAAD

You protect and support lands

وَأَبْوَابَ الْإِيمَانِ

WA ABWAABAL-`EEMAAN

The doors to faith

‏وَأُمَنَاءَ الرَّحْمَنِ

WA UMANAA`AR-RAH’MAAN

the trustees of the All-beneficent Allah

وَسُلاَلَةَ النَّبِيِّينَ

WA SULAALATAL-ANBIYAA`

The distinguished descendants of the Prophets

وَصَفْوَةَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

WA S’AFWATAL-MURSALEEN

The choice descendants of the Messengers

وَعِتْرَةَ خِيَرَةِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

WA ‘ITRATA KHIYARATI RABBIL-‘AALAMEEN

The Household of the best Individual in the estimation of the Lord of the worlds

وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

WA RAH’MATUL-LAAHI WA BARAKAATUH

And upon you be the mercy and blessings of Allah

‏السَّلاَمُ عَلَى أَئِمَّةِ الْهُدَى

ASSALAAMU ‘ALAA A`IMMATIL-HUDAA

Peace be on the Guides imams to the Right Path

وَمَصَابِيحِ الدُّجَى

WA MAS’AABEEH’AD-DUJAA

The lanterns in darkness

وَأَعْلاَمِ التُّقَى

WA A’LAAMAT-TUQAA

The patterns of piety

وَذَوِي النُّهَى

WA D’AWIN-NUHAA

The actual ones endued with understanding

وَأُولِي الْحِجَى

WA`ULIL-H’IJAA

The ones of thought

‏وَكَهْفِ الْوَرَى

WA KAHFAL-WARAA

The shelters for people

وَوَرَثَةِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ

WAWARATHATIL-ANBIYAA`

The inheritors of the Prophets

وَالْمَثَلِ الْأَعْلَى

WAL-MATHALIL-A’LAA

The perfect specimen

وَالدَّعْوَةِ الْحُسْنَى

WAD-DA’WATIL-H’USNAA

The most excellent calling unto the good

‏وَحُجَجِ اللَّهِ عَلَى أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَى

WA H’UJAJIL-LAAHI ‘ALAA AHLID-DUNYAA WAL-AAKHIRATI WAL-OOLA

The decisive arguments of Allah against the inhabitants of the world, the Hereafter and the former

وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

WA RAH’MATULLAAHI WABARAKAATUH

And upon you be the mercy and blessings of Allah

‏السَّلاَمُ عَلَى مَحَالِّ مَعْرِفَةِ اللَّهِ

ASSALAAMU ‘ALAA MAH’AA(A)LLI-MA’RIFATIL-LAAH

Peace be on the exponents of the views and beliefs which acquaint with the awareness of Allah

وَمَسَاكِنِ بَرَكَةِ اللَّهِ

WAMASAAKINI BARAKATIL-LAAH

wherever you are there are blessings of Allah

وَمَعَادِنِ حِكْمَةِ اللَّهِ

WAMA’AADINI H’IKMATIL-LAAH

the wisdom of Allah is deposited with you

‏وَحَفَظَةِ سِرِّ اللَّهِ

WAH’AFAZHATI SIRRIL-LLAH

the secrets of Allah have been put in your safekeeping

وَحَمَلَةِ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ

WAH’AMALATI KITAABIL-LAAH

you know the Book of Allah by heart

وَأَوْصِيَاءِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ

WA AWS’IYAA`I NABIYYIL-LLAAH

you are the successors of the Prophet of Allah

‏وَذُرِّيَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

WA D’URRIYYATI RASOOLIL-LAAHI S’ALLAL-LAAHU ‘ALAYHI WA AALIH

the children of the Messenger of Allah

وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

WA RAH’MATULL-LAAHI WABARAKAATUH

And upon you be the mercy and blessings of Allah

‏السَّلاَمُ عَلَى الدُّعَاةِ إِلَى اللَّهِ

ASSALAAMU ‘ALAD-DU’AATI ILAL-LAAH

Peace be on you who invite people unto Allah

وَالْأَدِلاَّءِ عَلَى مَرْضَاةِ اللَّهِ

WAL-ADILLAA`I ‘ALAA MARDHAATIL-LAAH

guide with clear arguments unto that which win Allah's pleasure

وَالْمُسْتَقِرِّينَ فِي أَمْرِ اللَّهِ

WAL-MUSTAQIRREENA FEE AMRIL-LAAH

abide by the laws of Allah

‏وَالتَّامِّينَ فِي مَحَبَّةِ اللَّهِ

WAT-TAA(A)MMEENA FEE MAH’ABBATIL-LAAH

love Allah from the bottom of the heart

وَالْمُخْلِصِينَ فِي تَوْحِيدِ اللَّهِ

WAL-MUKHLIS’EENA FEE TAWH’EEDIL-LAAH

sincerely believe in the One and Only Allah

وَالْمُظْهِرِينَ لِأَمْرِ اللَّهِ وَنَهْيِهِ

WAL-MUZHHIREENA LI-AMRIL-LAAHI WA NAHYIH

make clear that which is made lawful and that which is made unlawful by Allah

‏وَعِبَادِهِ الْمُكْرَمِينَ

WA ‘IBAADIHIL-MUKRAMEEN

you are the honored bondmen

الَّذِينَ لاَ يَسْبِقُونَهُ بِالْقَوْلِ وَهُمْ بِأَمْرِهِ يَعْمَلُونَ

ALLAD’EENA LAA YASBIQOONAHOO BIL-QAWLI WAHUM BI-AMRIHEE YA’MALOON

who speak not until He has spoken and act by His command

وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

WARAH’MATUL-LAAHI WABARAKAATUH

And upon you be the mercy and blessings of Allah

‏السَّلاَمُ عَلَى الْأَئِمَّةِ الدُّعَاةِ

ASSALAAMU ‘ALAL-A`IMMATID-DU’AA

Peace be on the Guides Imams who give a calling

وَالْقَادَةِ الْهُدَاةِ

WAL-QAADATIL-HUDAA

and lead unto guidance

وَالسَّادَةِ الْوُلاَةِ

WAS-SAADATIL-WULAA

you are the loving guardians

وَالذَّادَةِ الْحُمَاةِ

WAD’-D’AADATIL-H’UMAA

the protecting defenders

وَأَهْلِ الذِّكْرِ

WA AHLID’-D’IKR

the followers people of the remembrance the Holy Quran

وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ

WA ULIL-AMR

those who are in authority

وَبَقِيَّةِ اللَّهِ

WA BAQIYYATIL-LAAH

that good which Allah has left with people

وَخِيَرَتِهِ وَحِزْبِهِ

WA KHIYARATIHEE WA H’IZBIH

His choicest and His group

وَعَيْبَةِ عِلْمِهِ

WA ‘AYBATI ‘ILMIH

The store of His Knowledge

‏وَحُجَّتِهِ وَصِرَاطِهِ

WA H’UJJATIHEE WA S’IRAAT’IH

His argument, His path

وَنُورِهِ وَبُرْهانِهِ

WA NOORIHEE WA BURHAANIH

His light, His proof

وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

WA RAH’MATUL-LAAHI WABARAKAATUH

And upon you be the mercy and blessings of Allah

‏أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ

ASHHADU AN LAA ILAAHA ILLAL-LAAH

I bear witness that there is no god save Allah

وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ

WAH’DAHOO LAA SHAREEKA LAH

the One and there is no partner with Him

كَمَا شَهِدَ اللَّهُ لِنَفْسِهِ

KAMAA SHAHIDAL-LAAHU LINAFSIH

just as Allah Himself testifies to His own Oneness

وَشَهِدَتْ لَهُ مَلاَئِكَتُهُ

WASHAHIDAT LAHOO MALAA`IKATUH

and His Angels also testify for His Oneness

‏وَأُولُوا الْعِلْمِ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ

WA’ULUL-‘ILMI MIN KHALQIH

And also his creatures who know the truth also testify

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

LAA ILAAHA ILLAA HUWAL-‘AZEEZUL-H’AKEEM

there is no god save He; the Almighty the All-wise

‏وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ الْمُنْتَجَبُ

WA ASHHADU ANNA MUH’AMMADAN ‘ABDUHUL-MUNTAJAB

I bear witness that Muhammad is His elect bondman

وَرَسُولُهُ الْمُرْتَضَى

WARASOOLUHUL-MURTADHAA

His approved Messenger

‏أَرْسَلَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ

ARSALAHOO BIL-HUDAA WA DEENIL-H’AQQ

He sent him with the guidance and the Religion of truth

لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ

LIYUZHHIRAHOO ‘ALAD-DEENI KULLIH

that He may cause it to prevail over all religions

وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ

WALAW KARIHAL-MUSHRIKOON

however much the idol-worshippers may be averse

‏وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكُمُ الْأَئِمَّةُ الرَّاشِدُونَ

WAASHHADU ANNAKUMUL-A`IMMATUR-RAASHIDOON

I bear witness that all of you are the rightly guided Imams

الْمَهْدِيُّونَ الْمَعْصُومُونَ

AL-MAHDIYYOONAL-MA’S’OOMOON

The truly guided, the infallible

الْمُكَرَّمُونَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ

AL-MUKARRAMOONAL-MUQARRABOON

The highly revered, the favorite

الْمُتَّقُونَ الصَّادِقُونَ

AL-MUTTAQOONAS’-S’AADIQOON

The pious, the truthful

‏الْمُصْطَفَوْنَ الْمُطِيعُونَ لِلَّهِ

AL-MUS’T’AFAWNAL-MUT’EE’OONA LILLAAH

The chosen, the obedient servants of Allah

الْقَوَّامُونَ بِأَمْرِهِ

AL-QAWWAAMOONA BI-AMRIH

who establish the rule of God

الْعَامِلُونَ بِإِرَادَتِهِ

AL-‘AAMILOONA BI-IRAADATIH

put into practice that which He wills

الْفَائِزُونَ بِكَرَامَتِهِ

AL-FAA`IZOONA BI-KARAAMATIH

win and posses His excellence

‏اصْطَفَاكُمْ بِعِلْمِهِ

IS’T’AFAAKUM BI-‘ILMIH

He elected you to have His knowledge

وَارْتَضَاكُمْ لِغَيْبِهِ

WAR-TADHAAKUM LIGHAYBIH

He chose you to be aware of what issues forth or what comes to pass

وَاخْتَارَكُمْ لِسِرِّهِ

WAKH-TAARAKUM LISIRRIH

placed His trust in you to let you know inside and out of His secrets

‏وَاجْتَبَاكُمْ بِقُدْرَتِهِ

WAJ-TABAAKUM BIQUDRATIH

strengthened you with His omnipotence

وَأَعَزَّكُمْ بِهُدَاهُ

WA A’AZZAKUM BIHUDAAH

equipped you with His guidance

وَخَصَّكُمْ بِبُرْهَانِهِ

WA KHAS’S’AKUM BIBURHAANIH

distinguished you with His clear proofs

وَانْتَجَبَكُمْ لِنُورِهِ

WANTAJABAKUM LINOORIH

glorified you with His Light

وَأَيَّدَكُمْ بِرُوحِهِ

WA AYYADAKUM BIROOH’IH

confirmed you with His Holy spirit

‏وَرَضِيَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ فِي أَرْضِهِ

WARADHIYAKUM KHULAFAA`A FEE ARDHIH

made a choice of you to represent Him in His earth

وَحُجَجاً عَلَى بَرِيَّتِهِ

WAH’UJAJAN ‘ALAA BARIYYATIH

so that you make evident manifest and establish His truth

وَأَنْصَاراً لِدِينِهِ

WA ANS’AARAN LIDEENIH

give currency to His religion

‏وَحَفَظَةً لِسِرِّهِ

WA H’AFAZHATAN LISIRRIH

protect His confidence

وَخَزَنَةً لِعِلْمِهِ

WA KHAZANATAN LI-‘ILMIH

treasure His knowledge

وَمُسْتَوْدَعاً لِحِكْمَتِهِ

WA MUSTAWDA’AN LI-H’IKMATIH

store and invest His wisdom

وَتَرَاجِمَةً لِوَحْيِهِ

WA TARAAJIMATAN LI-WAH’YIH

Interpret His revelation

وَأَرْكَاناً لِتَوْحِيدِهِ

WA-ARKAANAN LI-TAWH’EEDIH

consolidate and preserve His Oneness

‏وَشُهَدَاءَ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ

WA SHUHADAA`A ‘ALAA KHALQIH

bear witness to the act of creation you witnessed all that has been created by Allah

وَأَعْلاَماً لِعِبَادِهِ

WA A’LAAMAN LI-IBAADIH

you are the signs Allah has set for His servants

وَمَنَاراً فِي بِلاَدِهِ

WA MANAARAN FEE BILAADIH

you are the torches Allah has lighted in His lands

وَأَدِلاَّءَ عَلَى صِرَاطِهِ

WA ADILLAA`A ‘ALAA S’IRAAT’IH

you show the direction unto His path

‏عَصَمَكُمُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الزَّلَلِ

‘AS’AMAKUMUL-LAAHU MINAZ-ZALAL

Allah preserved you guiltless and free from error

وَآمَنَكُمْ مِنَ الْفِتَنِ

WA AAMANAKUM MINAL-FITAN

kept you safe disorderliness

وَطَهَّرَكُمْ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ

WA T’AHHARAKUM MINAD-DANAS

freed you from dirt

وَأَذْهَبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ

WA AD’HABA ‘ANKUMUR-RIJSA

from unruly removed uncleanness from you

وَطَهَّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيراً

WA T’AHHARAKUM TAT’HEERAA

and cleansed you with a thorough cleansing

فَعَظَّمْتُمْ جَلاَلَهُ

FA ‘AZHZHAMTUM JALAALAH

So, you have glorified His majesty

وَأَكْبَرْتُمْ شَأْنَهُ

WA AKBARTUM SHA`NAH

Have declared great His magnificence

وَمَجَّدْتُمْ كَرَمَهُ

WA MAJJADTUM KARAMAH

Have venerated His glory

وَأَدَمْتُمْ ذِكْرَهُ

WA ADAMTUM D’IKRAH

Have perpetuated mentioning Him

وَوَكَّدْتُمْ مِيثَاقَهُ

WAWAKKADTUM MEETHAAQAH

Have consolidated His covenant

‏وَأَحْكَمْتُمْ عَقْدَ طَاعَتِهِ

WA AH’KAMTUM ‘AQDA T’AA’ATIH

Have made firm your pledge of obedience to Him

وَنَصَحْتُمْ لَهُ فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلاَنِيَةِ

WA NAS’AH’TUM LAHOO FIS-SIRRI WAL-‘ALAANIYAH

Have advised people for His sake privately and publicly

وَدَعَوْتُمْ إِلَى سَبِيلِهِ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ

WA DA’AWTUM ILAA SABEELIHEE BIL-H’IKMATI WAL-MAW’IZHATIL-H’ASANAH

Have called unto His way through words of wisdom and fair admonition

وَبَذَلْتُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ فِي مَرْضَاتِهِ

WA BAD’ALTUM ANFUSAKUM FEE MARDHAATIH

not sparing your own lives took pains and made efforts to do as He willed

وَصَبَرْتُمْ عَلَى مَا أَصَابَكُمْ فِي جَنْبِهِ

WA S’ABARTUM ‘ALAA MAA AS’AABAKUM FEE JANBIH

exercised self-control and faced untold hardships in His cause

وَأَقَمْتُمُ الصَّلاَةَ

WA AQAMTUMS’-S’ALAA

established prayers

وَآتَيْتُمُ الزَّكَاةَ

WA AATAYTUMUZ-ZAKAA

gave prescribed alms

وَأَمَرْتُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

WA AMARTUM BIN-MA’ROOF

advised to do that which is lawful

وَنَهَيْتُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ

WA NAHAYTUM ‘ANIL-MUNKAR

warned not to do that which is unlawful

وَجَاهَدْتُمْ فِي اللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ

WAJAAHADTUM FEE SABEELIL-LAAHI H’AQQA JIHAADIH

strived in the way of Allah in letter and spirit

‏حَتَّى أَعْلَنْتُمْ دَعْوَتَهُ

H’ATTAA A’LANTUM DA’WATAH

until you made known every aspect of His true Message

وَبَيَّنْتُمْ فَرَائِضَهُ

WABAYYANTUM FARAA`IDHAH

rendered clear the obligations

وَأَقَمْتُمْ حُدُودَهُ

WA AQAMTUM H’UDOODAH

and defined the boundaries laid down by Him

وَنَشَرْتُمْ شَرَائِعَ أَحْكَامِهِ

WANASHARTUM SHARAA`I’A AH’KAAMIH

communicated and propagated His constitution

‏وَسَنَنْتُمْ سُنَّتَهُ

WASANANTUM SUNNATAH

demonstrated the rule of conduct approved by Him

وَصِرْتُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ إِلَى الرِّضَا

WAS’IRTUM FEE D’AALIKA MINHU ILAR-RIDHAA

and went ahead resolutely to accomplish that which is dear to Him

وَسَلَّمْتُمْ لَهُ الْقَضَاءَ

WASALLAMTUM LAHUL-QADHAA

surrendered to His will

وَصَدَّقْتُمْ مِنْ رُسُلِهِ مَنْ مَضَى

WAS’ADDAQTUM MIN RUSULIHEE MAN MADHAA

proved true the Messengers sent by Him before you

‏فَالرَّاغِبُ عَنْكُمْ مَارِقٌ

WAR-RAAGHIBU ‘ANKUM MAARIQ

therefore whoso turns away from you misses the aim (and deviates from the right path)

وَاللاَّزِمُ لَكُمْ لاَحِقٌ

WAL-LAAZIMU LAKUM LAAH’IQ

whoso closely adhere to you reaches the destination

وَالْمُقَصِّرُ فِي حَقِّكُمْ زَاهِقٌ

WAL-MUQAS’S’IRU FEE H’AQQIKUM ZAAHIQ

whoso fails short of that which is as it ought to be in your case compare and contrast to lower in grade destroys himself

‏وَالْحَقُّ مَعَكُمْ وَفِيكُمْ وَمِنْكُمْ وَإِلَيْكُمْ

WAL-H’AQQU MA’AKUM WA FEEKUM WAMINKUM WA ILAYKUM

Verily truth is with you amid you in you and it always directs itself unto you

وَأَنْتُمْ أَهْلُهُ وَمَعْدِنُهُ

WA ANTUM AHLUHOO WA MA’DINUH

you deserve it as it stays permanently with you

وَمِيرَاثُ النُّبُوَّةِ عِنْدَكُمْ

WAMEERAATHUN-NUBUWWATI ‘INDAKUM

the inheritance of Prophethood is with you

‏وَإِيَابُ الْخَلْقِ إِلَيْكُمْ

WA IYAABUL-KHALQI ILAYKUM

you are the ultimate destination to which the people will have to come back

وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ

WAH’ISAABUHUM ‘ALAYKUM

to give an account of themselves before you

وَفَصْلُ الْخِطَابِ عِنْدَكُمْ

WAFAS’LUL-KHIT’AABI ‘INDAKUM

it is your privilege to separate evil from good in clear words

‏وَآيَاتُ اللَّهِ لَدَيْكُمْ

WA AAYAATULLAAHI LADAYKUM

in the light of the signs guidelines of Allah you are fully aware of

وَعَزَائِمُهُ فِيكُمْ

WA ‘AZAA`IMUHOO FEEKUM

because for His unavoidable decrees and plan He relies upon you

وَنُورُهُ وَبُرْهَانُهُ عِنْدَكُمْ

WANOORUHOO WABURHAANUHOO ‘INDAKUM

you are the true reflection of His light and Signs

وَأَمْرُهُ إِلَيْكُمْ

WA AMRUHOO ILAYKUM

authority to guide has been conferred on you

‏مَنْ وَالاَكُمْ فَقَدْ وَالَى اللَّهَ

MAN WAALAAKUM FAQAD WAALAL-LAAH

he who is fond of you is a friend of Allah

وَمَنْ عَادَاكُمْ فَقَدْ عَادَى اللَّهَ

WA MAN ‘AADAAKUM FAQAD ‘AADAL-LAAH

whoso turns against you comes in conflict with Allah

وَمَنْ أَحَبَّكُمْ فَقَدْ أَحَبَّ اللَّهَ

WAMAN AH’ABBAKUM FAQAD AH’ABBAL-LAAH

he who loves you is a beloved of Allah

وَمَنْ أَبْغَضَكُمْ فَقَدْ أَبْغَضَ اللَّهَ

WAMAN ABGHADHAKUM FAQAD ABGHADHAL-LAAH

whoso bears a grudge against you holds Allah in contempt

وَمَنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِكُمْ فَقَدِ اعْتَصَمَ بِاللَّهِ

WAMANI’TAS’AMA BIKUM FAQADI’-TAS’AMA BILLAAH

whoso takes refuge with you takes asylum with Allah

‏أَنْتُمُ الصِّرَاطُ الْأَقْوَمُ

WANTUMUS’-S’IRAAT’UL-AQWAM

you are the main means of approach the right way

والسَّبِيلُ الْأَعْظَمُ

WAS-SABEELUL-A’ZHAM

You are the greatest path (to Allah)

وَشُهَدَاءُ دَارِ الْفَنَاءِ

WA SHUHADAA`U DAARIL-FANAA

you give witness to what takes place in this mortal world

وَشُفَعَاءُ دَارِ الْبَقَاءِ

WASHUFA’AA`U DAARIL-BAQAA

And you are the interceders (for the believers) on the Day of Judgement

وَالرَّحْمَةُ الْمَوْصُولَةُ

WAR-RAH’MATUL-MAWS’OOLAH

you are the mercy perpetual and progressive

وَالْآيَةُ الْمَخْزُونَةُ

WAL-AAYATUL-MAKHZOONAH

The signs highly valued and treasured

وَالْأَمَانَةُ الْمَحْفُوظَةُ

WAL-AMAANATUL-MAH’FOOZHAH

mainstay well guarded

وَالْبَابُ الْمُبْتَلَى بِهِ النَّاسُ

WAL-BAABUL-MUBTALAA BIHIN-NAAS

forum of justice wherein people are put to test and trial

‏مَنْ أَتَاكُمْ نَجَا

MAN ATAAKUM NAJAA

whoso comes near you is saved assured a blissful afterlife

وَمَنْ لَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ هَلَكَ

WAMAN LAM YA`TIKUM HALAK

whoso does not come near you is ruined doomed to everlasting distress

إِلَى اللَّهِ تَدْعُونَ

ILAL-LAAHI TAD’OON

you invite people unto Allah

وَعَلَيْهِ تَدُلُّونَ

WA ‘ALAYHI TADULLOON

show the right way leading to Him

وَبِهِ تُؤْمِنُونَ

WABIHEE TUM`MINOON

Believe in Him

‏وَلَهُ تُسَلِّمُونَ

WALAHOO TUSALLIMOON

willingly surrender to Him

وَبِأَمْرِهِ تَعْمَلُونَ

WABI`AMRIHEE TA’MALOON

act upon His law and command

وَإِلَى سَبِيلِهِ تُرْشِدُونَ

WA ILAA SABEELIHEE TURSHIDOON

Guide to His path

وَبِقَوْلِهِ تَحْكُمُونَ

WABIQAWLIHEE TAH’KUMOON

exercise authority in the name of His word

‏سَعِدَ مَنْ وَالاَكُمْ

SA’IDA MAN WAALAAKUM

happy and successful is he who stands by you

وَهَلَكَ مَنْ عَادَاكُمْ

WAHALAKA MAN ‘AADAAKUM

lost and desolate is he who forsakes you

وَخَابَ مَنْ جَحَدَكُمْ

WAKHAABA MAN JAH’ADAKUM

indistinct and little known is he who knows better but denies you

وَضَلَّ مَنْ فَارَقَكُمْ

WADHALLA MAN FAARAQAKUM

whoso separates himself from you goes astray

‏وَفَازَ مَنْ تَمَسَّكَ بِكُمْ

WAFAAZA MAN TAMASSAKA BIKUM

whoso clings to you attains his purpose

وَأَمِنَ مَنْ لَجَأَ إِلَيْكُمْ

WA AMINA MAN LAJA`A ILAYKUM

whoso takes refuge with you saves himself

وَسَلِمَ مَنْ صَدَّقَكُمْ

WASALIMA MAN S’ADDAQAKUM

blessed is he who becomes aware of your truthfulness

وَهُدِيَ مَنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِكُمْ

WAHUDIYA MANI’-TAS’AMA BIKUM

he who is watched over by you finds the right path

‏مَنِ اتَّبَعَكُمْ فَالْجَنَّةُ مَأْوَاهُ

MAINT-TABA’AKUM FAL-JANNATU MA`WAAH

whoso follows you shall dwell in the Paradise

وَمَنْ خَالَفَكُمْ فَالنَّارُ مَثْوَاهُ

WAMAN KHAALAFAKUM FAN-NAARU MATHWAAH

whoso turns against you shall rot in Hell

‏وَمَنْ جَحَدَكُمْ كَافِرٌ

WAMAN JAH’ADAKUM KAAFIR

he who says no to you in fact renounces the faith

وَمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ مُشْرِكٌ

WAMAN H’AARABAKUM MUSHRIK

he who makes war against you is as bad as a polytheist

وَمَنْ رَدَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي أَسْفَلِ دَرْكٍ مِنَ الْجَحِيمِ

WAMAN RADDA ‘ALAYKUM FEE ASFALI DARKIN MINAL-JAH’EEM

he who forsakes you shall find himself in the lowest tier of the burning fire

‏أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ هَذَا سَابِقٌ لَكُمْ فِيمَا مَضَى

ASHHADU ANNA HAAD’AA SAABIQUN LAKUM FEEMAA MADHAA

I know for sure that certainly you are like what is said above

وَجَارٍ لَكُمْ فِيمَا بَقِيَ

WAJAARIN LAKUM FEEMAA BAQEE

and shall continue to be so in future

‏وَأَنَّ أَرْوَاحَكُمْ وَنُورَكُمْ وَطِينَتَكُمْ وَاحِدَةٌ

WA ANNA ARWAAH’AKUM WANOORAKUM WA T’EENATAKUM WAAH’IDAH

your souls, light and form are made from the same clay

طَابَتْ وَطَهُرَتْ بَعْضُهَا مِنْ بَعْضٍ

T’AABAT WA T’AHURAT BA’DHUHAA MIN BA’DH

They are thoroughly pure and infallible altogether

‏خَلَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ أَنْوَاراً

KHALAQAKUMUL-LAAHU ANWAARAA

Allah created you in the form of light

فَجَعَلَكُمْ بِعَرْشِهِ مُحْدِقِينَ

FAJA’ALAKUM BI-‘ARSHIHEE MUH’DIQEEN

then kept you closely attached with His Throne

حَتَّى مَنَّ عَلَيْنَا بِكُمْ

H’ATTAA MANNA ‘ALAYNAA BIKUM

until you were sent down in this world as a favor to us

‏فَجَعَلَكُمْ فِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ

FAJA’ALAKUM FEE BUYOOTIN AD’INAL-LAAHU AN TURFA’A WA YUD’KARA FEEHAS-MUH

allowed you to pronounce and praise His name aloud in the Houses of Allah

‏وَجَعَلَ صَلاَتَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَا خَصَّنَا بِهِ مِنْ وِلاَيَتِكُمْ طِيباً لِخَلْقِنَا

WA JA’ALA S’ALAATANA ‘ALAYKUM WA MAA KHAS’S’ANAA BIHEE MIN WILAAYATIKUM T’EEBAN LIKHAL-QINAA

made our sending blessings on you and being loyal to you as signs of the legitimacy of our birth

وَطَهَارَةً لِأَنْفُسِنَا

WAT’AHAARATAN LI-ANFUSINAA

and the purity of our souls

وَتَزْكِيَةً لَنَا

WATAZKIYATAN LANAA

And the refinement our manners

وَكَفَّارَةً لِذُنُوبِنَا

WAKAFFAARATAN LID’UNOOBINAA

And His forgiving our sins

فَكُنَّا عِنْدَهُ مُسَلِّمِينَ بِفَضْلِكُمْ

FAKUNNAA ‘INDAHOO MUSALLIMEENA BIFADHLIKUM

We thus have become among those who believe undoubtedly in your (excellent) virtues

وَمَعْرُوفِينَ بِتَصْدِيقِنَا إِيَّاكُمْ

WAMA’ROOFEENA BITAS’DEEQINAA IYYAAKUM

and by becoming aware of your true status we have been distinguished

‏فَبَلَغَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ أَشْرَفَ مَحَلِّ الْمُكَرَّمِينَ

FABALAGHAL-LAAHU BIKUM ASHRAFA MAH’ALLIL-MUKARRAMEEN

Allah made you reach the noblest position of glory

وَأَعْلَى مَنَازِلِ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ

WA A’LAA MANAAZILIL-MUQARRABEEN

the highest station nearest to Allah

وَأَرْفَعَ دَرَجَاتِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

WA ARFA’A DARAJAATINL-MURSALEEN

and the loftiest status of the Messengers

‏حَيْثُ لاَ يَلْحَقُهُ لاَحِقٌ

H’AYTHU LAA YALH’AQUHOO LAAH’IQ

where none can ever reach you

وَلاَ يَفُوقُهُ فَائِقٌ

WA LAA YAFOOQUHOO FAA`IQ

nor can anyone surpass you

وَلاَ يَسْبِقُهُ سَابِقٌ

WALAA YASBIQUHOO SAABIQ

nor can anyone ever precede you

وَلاَ يَطْمَعُ فِي إِدْرَاكِهِ طَامِعٌ

WALAA YAT’MA’U FEE IDRAAKIHEE T’AAMI’

No can anyone look forward to reaching your positions

‏حَتَّى لاَ يَبْقَى مَلَكٌ مُقَرَّبٌ

H’ATTAA LAA YABQAA MALAKUN MUQARRAB

even the favorite Angels went for it

وَلاَ نَبِيٌّ مُرْسَلٌ

WA LAA NABIYYUN MURSAL

nor the commissioned Prophets

وَلاَ صِدِّيقٌ وَلاَ شَهِيدٌ

WA LAA S’IDDEEQUN WALAA SHAHEED

nor a friend nor a martyr

وَلاَ عَالِمٌ وَلاَ جَاهِلٌ

WA LAA ‘AALIMUN WA LAA JAAHIL

nor a scholar nor an ignorant

وَلاَ دَنِيٌّ وَلاَ فَاضِلٌ

WA LAA DANIYYUN WA LAA FAADHIL

nor an inferior nor a superior

وَلاَ مُؤْمِنٌ صَالِحٌ

WA LAA MU`MINUN S’AALIH’

nor a pious faithful

وَلاَ فَاجِرٌ طَالِحٌ

WA FAAJIRUN T’AALIH’

nor a wicked sinner

‏وَلاَ جَبَّارٌ عَنِيدٌ

WA LAA JABBAARUN ‘ANEED

nor an obstinate tyrant

وَلاَ شَيْطَانٌ مَرِيدٌ

WA LAA SHAIT’AANUM MAREED

nor a devilish rebel

وَلاَ خَلْقٌ فِيمَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ شَهِيدٌ

WA KHALQUN FEE MAA BAYNA D’AALIKA SHAHEED

nor any other being had ever been there

إِلاَّ عَرَّفَهُمْ جَلاَلَةَ أَمْرِكُمْ

ILLAA ‘ARRAFAHUM JALAALATA AMRIKUM

except that Allah informs them of the grandeur of your decisive authority

وَعِظَمَ خَطَرِكُمْ

WA ‘IZHAMA KHAT’ARIKUM

importance of your thoughtful ideas

وَكِبَرَ شَأْنِكُمْ

WA KIBARA SHA`NIKUM

power of your meaningful intelligence

وَتَمَامَ نُورِكُمْ

WATAMAAMA NOORIKUM

thoroughness of your enlightenment

وَصِدْقَ مَقَاعِدِكُمْ

WA S’IDQA MAQAA’IDIKUM

strength and goodness of your essence

وَثَبَاتَ مَقَامِكُمْ

WA THABAATA MAQAAMIKUM

proof of the durability of your office

‏وَشَرَفَ مَحَلِّكُمْ

WA SHARAFA MAH’ILLIKUM

distinction of your position

وَمَنْزِلَتِكُمْ عِنْدَهُ

WA MANZILATIKUM ‘INDAH

and the glory of your rank and dignity in His estimation

وَكَرَامَتَكُمْ عَلَيْهِ

WA KARAAMATAKUM ‘ALAYH

your venerable grace in His perception

وَخَاصَّتَكُمْ لَدَيْهِ

WAKHAAS’S’ATAKUM LADAYHI

your special friendship with Him

وَقُرْبَ مَنْزِلَتِكُمْ مِنْهُ

WAQURBA MANZILATIKUM MINH

and the closest nearness you have near Him

‏بِأَبِي أَنْتُمْ وَأُمِّي وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي وَأُسْرَتِي

BI-ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE WA AHLEE WA MAALEE WA USRATEE

My father, mother, family, property and possessions are at your disposal

أُشْهِدُ اللَّهَ وَأُشْهِدُكُمْ أَنِّي مُؤْمِنٌ بِكُمْ وَبِمَا آمَنْتُمْ بِهِ

USHHIDUL-LAAHA WA USHHIDUKUM ANNEE MU`MINUN BIKUM WABIMAA AAMANTUM BIH

I beseech Allah and you to bear witness that I believe in you and in that in which you believe

‏كَافِرٌ بِعَدُوِّكُمْ وَبِمَا كَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ

KAAFIRUN BI’ADUWWIKUM WABIMAA KAFARTUM BIH

I renounce your enemies and whatever you renounce

مُسْتَبْصِرٌ بِشَأْنِكُمْ

MUSTABS’IRUN BISHA`NIKUM

I am fully aware of your glorious purpose

وَبِضَلاَلَةِ مَنْ خَالَفَكُمْ

WABIDHALAALATI MAN KHAALAFAKUM

and of the deviation of him whoever oppose you

‏مُوَالٍ لَكُمْ وَلِأَوْلِيَائِكُمْ

MUWAALIN LAKUM WA LI-AWLIYAA`IKUM

I am your friend and a friend of your friends

مُبْغِضٌ لِأَعْدَائِكُمْ وَمُعَادٍ لَهُمْ

MUBGHIDHUN LI-A’DAA`IKUM WA MU’AADIN LAHUM

I dislike your enemies and strive against their designs

سِلْمٌ لِمَنْ سَالَمَكُمْ

SILMUN LIMAN SAALAMAKUM

I am at peace with those who make peace with you

وَحَرْبٌ لِمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ

WAH’ARBUN LIMAN H’AARABAKUM

I take the field against those who march against you

‏مُحَقِّقٌ لِمَا حَقَّقْتُمْ

MUH’AQQIQUN LIMAA H’AQQAQTUM

I accept as true that which acknowledges your truth

مُبْطِلٌ لِمَا أَبْطَلْتُمْ

MUBT’ILUN LIMAA ABT’ALTUM

I prove false that which takes a stand against you

مُطِيعٌ لَكُمْ

MUT’EE’UN LAKUM

I follow in your footsteps

عَارِفٌ بِحَقِّكُمْ

‘AARIFUN BIH’AQQIKUM

I am fully aware of your rights and privileges

‏مُقِرٌّ بِفَضْلِكُمْ

MUQIRRUN BIFADHLIKUM

I recognize your superiority over others

مُحْتَمِلٌ لِعِلْمِكُمْ

MUH’TAMILUN LI-‘ILMIKUM

I carry and preserve your knowledge

مُحْتَجِبٌ بِذِمَّتِكُمْ

MUH’TAJIBUN BID’IMMATIKUM

I take refuge under your protective shelter

مُعْتَرِفٌ بِكُمْ

MU’TARIFUN BIKUM

I respond to you

مُؤْمِنٌ بِإِيَابِكُمْ

MU`MINUN BI-IYAABIKUM

I know for sure that you will come back

مُصَدِّقٌ بِرَجْعَتِكُمْ

MUS’ADDIQUN BIRAJ’ATIKUM

I believe in your promised return

‏مُنْتَظِرٌ لِأَمْرِكُمْ

MUNTAZHIRUN LI-AMRIKUM

I anticipate and look for your just and fair order

مُرْتَقِبٌ لِدَوْلَتِكُمْ

MURTAQIBUN LIDAWLATIKUM

I anticipate the advent of your State

آخِذٌ بِقَوْلِكُمْ

AAKHID’UN BIQAWLIKUM

I hold fast to that which you have said

عَامِلٌ بِأَمْرِكُمْ

‘AAMILUN BI-AMRIKUM

I carry out your orders

مُسْتَجِيرٌ بِكُمْ

MUSTAJEERUN BIKUM

I take shelter in your neighborhood

‏زَائِرٌ لَكُمْ

ZAA`IRUN LAKUM

I make a visit to do homage and praise you

لاَئِذٌ عَائِذٌ بِقُبُورِكُمْ

LAA`D’UN ‘AA`D’UN BIQUBOORIKUM

for me your resting abodes are sanctuaries

مُسْتَشْفِعٌ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِكُمْ

MUSTASHFI’UN ILAL-LAAHI ‘AZZA WA JALLA BIKUM

in the court of the Almighty you are my advocates

وَمُتَقَرِّبٌ بِكُمْ إِلَيْهِ

WAMUTAQARRIBUN BIKUM ILAYH

I seek His nearness through you

‏وَمُقَدِّمُكُمْ أَمَامَ طَلِبَتِي وَحَوَائِجِي وَإِرَادَتِي

WAMUQADDIMUKUM AMAAMA T’ALIBATEE WA H’AWAA`IJEE WA IRAADATEE

for seeking fulfillment of my wants and desire

فِي كُلِّ أَحْوَالِي وَأُمُورِي

FEE KULLI AH’WAALEE WA UMOOREE

under all circumstances I follow you to make headway

‏مُؤْمِنٌ بِسِرِّكُمْ وَعَلاَنِيَتِكُمْ

MU`MINUN BISIRRIKUM WA’AKAANIYATIKUM

I believe in your invisibility visibility

وَشَاهِدِكُمْ وَغَائِبِكُمْ

WASHAAHIDIKUM WAGHAA`IBIKUM

Presence, absence

وَأَوَّلِكُمْ وَآخِرِكُمْ

WA AWWALIKUM WA AAKHIRIKUM

and in the first of you and the last of you

وَمُفَوِّضٌ فِي ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ

WA MUFAWWIDHUN FEE D’AALIKA KULLIHEE ILAYKUM

I entrust to you the total charge of everything concerning me

‏وَمُسَلِّمٌ فِيهِ مَعَكُمْ

WAMUSALLIMUN FEEHI MA’AKUM

I gladly consent to that which you think is good for me

وَقَلْبِي لَكُمْ مُسَلِّمٌ

WAQALBEE LAKUM MUSALLIM

from the bottom of my heart I surrender to you

وَرَأْيِي لَكُمْ تَبَعٌ

WARA`YEE LAKUM TABA’

your opinion is my opinion

وَنُصْرَتِي لَكُمْ مُعَدَّةٌ

WANUS’RATEE LAKUM MU’ADDAH

I am prepared and ready to stand up for you

حَتَّى يُحْيِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى دِينَهُ بِكُمْ

H’ATTAA YYH’YIYAL-LAAHU TA’AALAA DEENAHOO BIKUM

till Allah the Supreme gives a new life to His Religion through you

وَيَرُدَّكُمْ فِي أَيَّامِهِ

WA YARUDDAKUM FEE AYYAAMIH

brings you back again in His ‘Days’

وَيُظْهِرَكُمْ لِعَدْلِهِ

WAYUZHHIRAKUM LI-‘ADLIH

Manifest you to set up His fair and just rule

وَيُمَكِّنَكُمْ فِي أَرْضِهِ

WA YUMAKKINAKUM FEE ARDHIH

you take root in and take possession of His earth the world

‏فَمَعَكُمْ مَعَكُمْ لاَ مَعَ غَيْرِكُمْ

FAMA’AKUM MA’AKUM LAA MA’A GHAYRIKUM

so I am with you, with you, not other than you

آمَنْتُ بِكُمْ

AAMANTU BIKUM

I have full faith in you

وَتَوَلَّيْتُ آخِرَكُمْ بِمَا تَوَلَّيْتُ بِهِ أَوَّلَكُمْ

WATAWALLAYTU AAKHIRAKUM BIMAA TAWALLAYTU BIHEE AWWALAKUM

I love and cherish the last of you just as I love and cherish the first of you

‏وَبَرِئْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ أَعْدَائِكُمْ

WABARI`TU ILAL-AAHI ‘AZZA WAJALLA MIN A’DAA`IKUM

I turn to the Almighty Allah disconnecting all links with your enemies

وَمِنَ الْجِبْتِ وَالطَّاغُوتِ

WAMINAL-JIBTI WAT’-T’AAGHOOT

from Jibt and Taghoot

وَالشَّيَاطِينِ ‏وَحِزْبِهِمُ

WASH-SHAYAAT’EENI WA H’IZBIHIM

and the devils and their followers

الظَّالِمِينَ لَكُمْ

AZH-ZHAALIMEENA LAKUM

who took liberties with you

وَالْجَاحِدِينَ لِحَقِّكُمْ

WAL-JAAH’IDEENA LIH’AQQIKUM

the renegades who suppressed your rights

وَالْمَارِقِينَ مِنْ وِلاَيَتِكُمْ

WAL-MAARIQEENA MIN WILAAYATIKUM

the turncoats who ran away from your guardianship

وَالْغَاصِبِينَ لِإِرْثِكُمْ

WAL-GHAAS’IBEENA LI-IRTHIKUM

the swindlers who usurped your succession

وَالشَّاكِّينَ فِيكُمْ

WASH-SHAA(A)KKEENA FEEKUM

the unbelievers who hesitated to accept you as true

وَالْمُنْحَرِفِينَ عَنْكُمْ

WAL-MUNH’ARIFEENA ‘ANKUM

the deserters who turned against you

‏وَمِنْ كُلِّ وَلِيجَةٍ دُونَكُمْ

WAMIN KULLI WALEEJATIN DOONAKUM

and from every affinity apart from you

وَكُلِّ مُطَاعٍ سِوَاكُمْ

WAKULLI MUT’AA’IN SIWAAKUM

every allegiance other than unto you

وَمِنَ الْأَئِمَّةِ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى النَّارِ

WAMINAL-A`IMMATIL-LAD’EENA YAD’OONA ILAN-NAAR

from the leadership which directs to the Fire

فَثَبَّتَنِيَ اللَّهُ أَبَداً مَا حَيِيتُ عَلَى مُوَالاَتِكُمْ

FATHABBATANIYAL-LAAHU ABADAN MAA H’AYEETU ‘ALAA MUWAALAATIKUM

May Allah keep intact my love and attachment with you for ever so far I am alive

وَمَحَبَّتِكُمْ وَدِينِكُمْ

WAMAH’ABBATIKUM WADEENIKUM

and make me adhere to your creed

وَوَفَّقَنِي لِطَاعَتِكُمْ

WAWAFFAQANEE LIT’AA’ATIKUM

find obedience unto you convenient

وَرَزَقَنِي شَفَاعَتَكُمْ

WARAZAQANEE SHAFAA’ATAKUM

obtain your intercession

‏وَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خِيَارِ مَوَالِيكُمْ

WAJA’ALANEE MIN KHIYAARI MAWAALEEKUM

be among your fortunate disciples

التَّابِعِينَ لِمَا دَعَوْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ

AT-TAABI’EENA LIMAA DA’AWTUM ILAYH

Who hold fast to your traditions

وَجَعَلَنِي مِمَّنْ يَقْتَصُّ آثَارَكُمْ

WAJA’ALANEE MIMMAN YAQTAS’S’U AATHAARAKUM

And make me follow in your footsteps

‏وَيَسْلُكُ سَبِيلَكُمْ

WAYASLUKU SABEELAKUM

And track your Path

وَيَهْتَدِي بِهُدَاكُمْ

WAYAHTADEE BIHUDAAKUM

abide by your guidance

وَيُحْشَرُ فِي زُمْرَتِكُمْ

WAYUH’SHARU FEE ZUMRATIKUM

to be raised in your group on the Day of Judgement

وَيَكِرُّ فِي رَجْعَتِكُمْ

WA YAKIRRU FEE RAJ’ATIKUM

brought back during your reappearance

‏وَيُمَلَّكُ فِي دَوْلَتِكُمْ

WAYUMALLAKU FEE DAWLATIKUM

called upon to help you in your administration

وَيُشَرَّفُ فِي عَافِيَتِكُمْ

WAYUSHARRAFU FEE ‘AAFIYATIKUM

honoured to live in your safe and sound supervision

وَيُمَكَّنُ فِي أَيَّامِكُمْ

WAYUMAKKANU FEE AYYAAMIKUM

right there in the middle of your 'days'

‏وَتَقَرُّ عَيْنُهُ غَداً بِرُؤْيَتِكُمْ

WA TAQARRU ‘AYNUHOO GHADAN BIRU`YATIKUM

delighted and thrilled by seeing you in person

بِأَبِي أَنْتُمْ وَأُمِّي وَنَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي

BI-ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE WANAFSEE WA AHLEE WAMAALEE

My father, mother, children, possessions and myself are at your disposal

‏مَنْ أَرَادَ اللَّهَ بَدَأَ بِكُمْ

MAN ARAADAL-LAAHA BADA`A BIKUM

whoso desires nearness to Allah in fact makes a beginning with you

وَمَنْ وَحَّدَهُ قَبِلَ عَنْكُمْ

WAMAN WAH’H’ADAHOO QABILA ‘ANKUM

whoso professes the Unity of God in fact takes after you

‏وَمَنْ قَصَدَهُ تَوَجَّهَ بِكُمْ

WAMAN QAS’ADAHOO TAWAJJAHA BIKUM

whoso moves towards Him has to turn to you

مَوَالِيَّ لاَ أُحْصِي ثَنَاءَكُمْ

MAWAALIYYA LAA UH’S’EE THANAA`AKUM

O my masters I cannot count and mention your merits

وَلاَ أَبْلُغُ مِنَ الْمَدْحِ كُنْهَكُمْ

WALAA ABLUGHU MINAL-MAD-H’I KUNHAKUM

I am unable to come up to the height where your true appreciation can be enjoyed

وَمِنَ الْوَصْفِ قَدْرَكُمْ

WAMINAL-WAS’FI QADRAKUM

and your real class can be determined

‏وَأَنْتُمْ نُورُ الْأَخْيَارِ

WA ANTUM MOORUL-AKHYAAR

You are the light of the virtuous

وَهُدَاةُ الْأَبْرَارِ

WA HUDAATUL-ABRAAR

The guides of the pious ones

وَحُجَجُ الْجَبَّارِ

WA H’UJAJUL-JABBAAR

The claims of the Omnipotent (Lord)

بِكُمْ فَتَحَ اللَّهُ

BIKUM FATAH’AL-LAAH

Allah had created you in the first place

‏وَبِكُمْ يَخْتِمُ اللَّهُ

WABIKUM YAKHTIMUL-LAAH

and then disclosed to you His plan of creation

وَبِكُمْ يُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ

WABIKUM YUNAZZILUL-GHAYTH

on account of you He sent down abundant and far-spread rain

وَبِكُمْ يُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءَ أَنْ تَقَعَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ

WABIKUM YUMSIKUS-SAMAA`A AN TAQA’A ‘ALAL-ARDHI ILLAA BI-ID’NIH

because of you the sky prevents itself from falling down over the earth unless He permits

‏وَبِكُمْ يُنَفِّسُ الْهَمَّ وَيَكْشِفُ الضُّرَّ

WABIKUM YUNAFFISUL-HAMMA WA YAKSHIFUL-DHURR

due to you He drives away troubles and dismisses hardships

وَعِنْدَكُمْ مَا نَزَلَتْ بِهِ رُسُلُهُ

WA ‘INDAKUM MAA NAZALAT BIHEE RUSULUH

with you is that with which His Messengers came down

وَهَبَطَتْ بِهِ مَلاَئِكَتُهُ

WAHABAT’AT BIHEE MALAA`IKATUH

And with which His Angels descended

وَإِلَى جَدِّكُمْ … ‏بُعِثَ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ

WA ILAA JADDIKUM BU’ITHAR-ROOH’UL-AMEEN

and to your forefather,[1] the Truthful Spirit was sent

آتَاكُمُ اللَّهُ مَا لَمْ يُؤْتِ أَحَداً مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ

AATAAKUMUL-LAAHU MAA LAM YU`TI AH’ADAN MINAL-‘AALAMEEN

Allah has given you that which He has not given to any one in the whole universe

طَأْطَأَ كُلُّ شَرِيفٍ لِشَرَفِكُمْ

T’A`T’A`A KULLU SHAREEFIN LISHARAFIKUM

all the highborn hang their heads before your noble lineage

وَبَخَعَ كُلُّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ لِطَاعَتِكُمْ

WABAKHA’A KULLU MUTAKABBIRIN LIT’AA`ATIKUM

every valiant lord submits to you in your obedience

‏وَخَضَعَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ لِفَضْلِكُمْ

WAKHADHA’A KULLU JABBAARIN LIFADHLIKUM

every type of heroism is dwarfed before your completeness and perfection

وَذَلَّ كُلُّ شَيْ‏ءٍ لَكُمْ

WAD’ALLA KULLU SHAY`IN LAKUM

everything humbles itself in front of you

وَأَشْرَقَتِ الْأَرْضُ بِنُورِكُمْ

WA ASHRAQATIL-ARDHU BINOORIKUM

your light lights up the earth

وَفَازَ الْفَائِزُونَ بِوِلاَيَتِكُمْ

WAFAAZAL-FAA`IZOONA BIWILAAYATIKUM

those who love and cherish you attain their end

‏بِكُمْ يُسْلَكُ إِلَى الرِّضْوَانِ

BIKUM YUSLAKU ILAR-RIDHWAAN

and conduct themselves to the Paradise

وَعَلَى مَنْ جَحَدَ وِلاَيَتَكُمْ غَضَبُ الرَّحْمَنِ

WA ‘ALAA MAN JAH’ADA WILAAYATAKUM GHADHABUR-RAH’MAAN

and those who forsake your friendship earn displeasure of the All-compassionate

‏بِأَبِي أَنْتُمْ وَأُمِّي وَنَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي

BI-ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE WA NAFSEE WA AHLEE WA MAALEE

My father, mother, myself, my children and possessions are at your disposal

ذِكْرُكُمْ فِي الذَّاكِرِينَ

D’IKRUKUM FID’-D’AAKIREEN

Although people make mention of you

وَأَسْمَاؤُكُمْ فِي الْأَسْمَاءِ

WA ASMAA`UKUM FIL-ASMAA`

your names are called along with other names

وَأَجْسَادُكُمْ فِي الْأَجْسَادِ

WA AJSAADUKUM FIL-AJSAAD

your figures appeared among other humans

وَأَرْوَاحُكُمْ فِي الْأَرْوَاحِ

WA ARWAAH’UKUM FIL-ARWAAH’

your souls rest with other souls

وَأَنْفُسُكُمْ فِي النُّفُوسِ

WA ANFUSUKUM FIN-NUFOOS

your beings existed side by side with other beings

وَآثَارُكُمْ فِي الْآثَارِ

WA AATHARUKUM FIL-AATHAAR

your traditions are cited with other traditions

وَقُبُورُكُمْ فِي الْقُبُورِ

WA QUBOORUKUM FIL-QUBOOR

your resting places are seen amidst others

فَمَا أَحْلَى أَسْمَاءَكُمْ

FA MAA AH’LAA ASMAA`AKUM

but most gracious are your names

وَأَكْرَمَ أَنْفُسَكُمْ

WA AKRAMA ANFUSAKUM

most generous and merciful are your lives

وَأَعْظَمَ شَأْنَكُمْ

WA A’ZHAMA SHA`NAKUM

superlative is your nature and disposition

وَأَجَلَّ خَطَرَكُمْ

WA AJALLA KHAT’ARAKUM

befitting is your station

وَأَوْفَى عَهْدَكُمْ

WA AWFAA ‘AHDAKUM

dependable is your covenant

وَأَصْدَقَ وَعْدَكُمْ

WA AS’DAQA WA’DAKUM

true is your promise

كَلاَمُكُمْ نُورٌ

KALAAMUKUM NOOR

your words give light

وَأَمْرُكُمْ رُشْدٌ

WA AMRUKUM RUSHD

your administration is just and fair

وَوَصِيَّتُكُمُ التَّقْوَى

WA WAS’IYYATUKUMUT-TAQWAA

Piety is your will

وَفِعْلُكُمُ الْخَيْرُ

WA FI’LUKUMUL-KHAYR

your deeds are good

وَعَادَتُكُمُ الْإِحْسَانُ

WA ‘AADATUKUMUL-IH’SAAN

doing good is your manner of living

وَسَجِيَّتُكُمُ الْكَرَمُ

WASAJIYYATUKUMUL-KARAM

generosity is your habit

‏وَشَأْنُكُمُ الْحَقُّ وَالصِّدْقُ وَالرِّفْقُ

WASHA’NUKUMUL-H’AQQU WAS’-S’IDQU WAR-RIFQ

fair dealing, conformity to reality and helping others are in your nature

وَقَوْلُكُمْ حُكْمٌ وَحَتْمٌ

WAQAWLUKUM H’UKMUN WAH’ATM

your words are final and decisive

وَرَأْيُكُمْ عِلْمٌ وَحِلْمٌ وَحَزْمٌ

WARA`YUKUM ‘ILMUN WA H’ILMUN WAH’AZM

your opinion is based upon knowledge, temperance and forethought

‏إِنْ ذُكِرَ الْخَيْرُ كُنْتُمْ أَوَّلَهُ

IN D’UKIRAL-KHAYRU KUNTUM AWWALAH

if goodness is mentioned, you are its beginning

وَأَصْلَهُ وَفَرْعَهُ وَمَعْدِنَهُ

WA AS’LAHOO WA FAR’AHOO WA MA’DINAH

And its origin and branch and core

وَمَأْوَاهُ وَمُنْتَهَاهُ

WAMA`MAAHU WAMUNTAHAAH

And its resting place and its ultimate

بِأَبِي أَنْتُمْ وَأُمِّي وَنَفْسِي

BI-ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE WA NAFSEE

My father, mother and myself are at your disposal

كَيْفَ أَصِفُ حُسْنَ ثَنَائِكُمْ

KAYFA AS’IFU H’USNA THANAA`IKUM

How shall I describe the beauty and goodness of your merits?

وَأُحْصِي جَمِيلَ بَلاَئِكُمْ

WA UH’S’EE JAMEELA BALAA`IKUM

How shall I define the grace and decorum you displayed in the hour of test and trial?

‏وَبِكُمْ أَخْرَجَنَا اللَّهُ مِنَ الذُّلِّ

WABIKUM AKHRAJANAL-LAAHU MINAD’-D’ULL

It is on account of you that Allah pulls us out of the depth of degradation

وَفَرَّجَ عَنَّا غَمَرَاتِ الْكُرُوبِ

WAFARRAJA ‘ANNAA GHAMARAATIL-KUROOB

sets us free from the clutches of hardships

وَأَنْقَذَنَا مِنْ شَفَا جُرُفِ الْهَلَكَاتِ وَمِنَ النَّارِ

WA ANQAD’ANAA MIN SHAFAA JURUFIL-HALAKAATI WAMINAN-NAAR

takes us to safety from the precipice of annihilation and from failing down into the Hell

بِأَبِي أَنْتُمْ وَأُمِّي وَنَفْسِي

BI-ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE WA NAFSEE

My father, mother and myself are at your disposal

بِمُوَالاَتِكُمْ عَلَّمَنَا اللَّهُ مَعَالِمَ دِينِنَا

BIMUWAALAATIKUM ‘ALLAMANAL-LLAHU MA’AALIMA DEENINAA

Because of our friendship with you Allah taught us the laws of our religion

وَأَصْلَحَ مَا كَانَ فَسَدَ مِنْ دُنْيَانَا

WA AS’LAH’A MAA KAANA FASADA MIN DUNYAANAA

put in order that which had been spoiled and corrupted in our world

وَبِمُوَالاَتِكُمْ تَمَّتِ الْكَلِمَةُ

WABIMUWAALAATIKUM TAMMATIL-KALIMAH

by being loyal to you the Word has been completed

وَعَظُمَتِ النِّعْمَةُ

WA ‘AZHUMATIN-NI’MAH

and the Grace has become great

وَائْتَلَفَتِ الْفُرْقَةُ

WA`TALAFATIL-FURQAH

And the discord has turned into togetherness

وَبِمُوَالاَتِكُمْ تُقْبَلُ الطَّاعَةُ الْمُفْتَرَضَةُ

WA BIMUWAALAATIKUM TUQBALUT’-T’AA’ATUL-MUFTARADHAH

And only is by our loyalty to you the obligatory obedience (to Allah) accepted

وَلَكُمُ الْمَوَدَّةُ الْوَاجِبَةُ

WALAKUMUL-MAWADDATUL-WAAJIBAH

And only is the obligatory adoration yours

وَالدَّرَجَاتُ الرَّفِيعَةُ

WAD-DARAJAATUR-RAFEE’AH

And so are the highest ranks

وَالْمَقَامُ الْمَحْمُودُ

WAL-MAQAAMUL-MAH’MOOD

And so is the Praised Standing

وَالْمَكَانُ الْمَعْلُومُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

WAL-MAKAANUL-MA’LOOMU ‘INDAL-LAAHI ‘AZZA WAJALL

And so is the renowned station in Almighty Allah’s view

وَالْجَاهُ الْعَظِيمُ

WAL-JAAHUL-‘AZHEEM

And topmost office

وَالشَّأْنُ الْكَبِيرُ

WASH-SHA`NUL-KABEER

And the supreme rank

وَالشَّفَاعَةُ الْمَقْبُولَةُ

WASH-SHAFAA’ATUL-MAQBOOLAH

And the admitted intercession

رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ

RABBANAA AAMANNAA BIMAA ANZALTA WAT-TABA’NAR-RASOOLA FAKTUBNAA MA’ASH-SHAHIDEEN

O our Lord, we believe in that which Thou has sent down and follow the Messenger; so write our names among those who bear witness

‏رَبَّنَا لاَ تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ

RABBANAA LAA TUZIGH QULOOBABAA BA’DA ID’ HADAYTANAA WAHAB LANAA MIN LADUNKA RAH’MATAN INNAKA ANTAL-WAHHAAB

Our Lord! Cause not our hearts to stray after Thou hast guided us, and bestow upon us mercy from Thy Presence. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Bestower.

‏سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنْ كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولاً

SUBH’AANA RABBINAA IN KAANA WA’DU RABBINAA LAMAF’OOLAA

Glory be to our Lord for in fact the promise of our Lord immediately takes effect

يَا وَلِيَّ اللَّهِ

YAA WILIYYAL-LAAH

O trusted representative of Allah

إِنَّ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ذُنُوباً لاَ يَأْتِي عَلَيْهَا إِلاَّ رِضَاكُمْ

INNA BAYNEE WA BAYNAL-LAAHI ‘AZZA WA JALLA D’UNOOBAN LAA YA`TEE ‘ALAYYAA ILLAA RIDHAAKUM

the barriers of wrongdoings separating me from Allah can not be removed save by attaining your satisfaction

‏فَبِحَقِّ مَنِ ائْتَمَنَكُمْ عَلَى سِرِّهِ

FABIH’AQQI MANI`-TAMANAKUM ‘ALAA SIRRIH

therefore in the name of the divine authority delegated to you

وَاسْتَرْعَاكُمْ أَمْرَ خَلْقِهِ

WASTAR’AAKUM AMRA KHALQIH

the administration of the human society entrusted to you

وَقَرَنَ طَاعَتَكُمْ بِطَاعَتِهِ

WAQARANA T’AA’ATAKUM BIT’AA’ATIH

and joining obedience to Him to the obedience to you

‏لَمَّا اسْتَوْهَبْتُمْ ذُنُوبِي

LAMMAS-TAWHABTUM D’UNOOBEE

I implore to you to pardon my sins

وَكُنْتُمْ شُفَعَائِي

WAKUNTUM SHUFA’AA`EE

And to intercede for me

فَإِنِّي لَكُمْ مُطِيعٌ

FA-INNEE LAKUM MUT’EE’

For I obey you

مَنْ أَطَاعَكُمْ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ

MAN AT’AA’AKUM FAQAD AT’AA’AL-LAAH

He who obeys you in fact obeys Allah

‏وَمَنْ عَصَاكُمْ فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ

WAMAN ‘AS’AAKUM FAQAD ‘AS’AL-LAAH

he who disobeys you in fact disobeys Allah

وَمَنْ أَحَبَّكُمْ فَقَدْ أَحَبَّ اللَّهَ

WAMAN AH’ABBAKUM FAQAD AH’ABBAL-LAAH

he who loves you in fact loves Allah

وَمَنْ أَبْغَضَكُمْ فَقَدْ أَبْغَضَ اللَّهَ

WAMAN ABGHADHAKUM FAQAD ABGHADHAL-LAAH

he who hates you in fact hates Allah

‏اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَوْ وَجَدْتُ شُفَعَاءَ أَقْرَبَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الْأَخْيَارِ الْأَئِمَّةِ الْأَبْرَارِ لَجَعَلْتُهُمْ شُفَعَائِي

ALLAAHUMMA LAW WAJADTU SHUFA’AA`A AQRABU ILAYKA MIN MUH’AMMADIN WA AHLI BAYTIHIL-AKHYAARIL-A`IMMATIL-ABRAARI LAJA’ALTUHUM SHUFA’AA`EE

O Allah, had I known interceders that are closer to You than Muhammad and his Household, the virtuous and pious Imams, I would have chosen to intercede for me before You

‏فَبِحَقِّهِمُ الَّذِي أَوْجَبْتَ لَهُمْ عَلَيْكَ

FABIH’AQQIHIMUL-LAD’EE AWJABTA LAHUM ‘ALAYK

So I beseech You by their Right that You have made obligatory upon us to follow

أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُدْخِلَنِي فِي جُمْلَةِ الْعَارِفِينَ بِهِمْ وَبِحَقِّهِمْ

AS`ALUKA AN TUDKHILANEE FEE JUMLATIL-‘AARIFEENA BIHIM WABIH’AQQIHIM

To include me with the group of those who recognize their Right and them

‏وَفِي زُمْرَةِ الْمَرْحُومِينَ بِشَفَاعَتِهِمْ

WA FEE ZUMRATIL-MARH’OOMEENA BISHAFAA’ATIHIM

And with the assembly of those on whom You will have mercy on account of their (Muhammad and his Household) intercession

إِنَّكَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

INNAKA ARH’AMUR-RAAH’IMEEN

Verily, You are the All-merciful

‏وَصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ

WAS’ALLAL-LAAHU ‘ALAA MUH’AMMADIN WA AALIHIT’-T’AAHIREEN

Blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and his infallible Household.

وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً كَثِيراً

WASALLAMA TASLEEMAN KATHEERA

And His thorough peace be upon them

وَحَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ‏

WA H’ASBUNAL-LAAHU WA NI’MAL-WAKEEL

Allah is Sufficient for us! Most Excellent is He in Whom we trust!
